What makes Summer Central such a wonderful experience? A wonderful staff! Their talent, energy, experience, and dedication are absolutely unmatched. Our rigorous and selective hiring process is aimed at recruiting the most experienced, skilled professionals available. Most are teaching professionals, including some from The Dunham School faculty. Summer Central staff are selected for their maturity, enthusiasm, creativity, and passion for working with children.

 

Enrichment Camp instructors are teaching professionals with many years of experience and expertise.  Our camp directors train our day camp counselors and junior counselors.  We strive to provide you with a safe, exciting and fun camping experience.  This is our 6th year of The Best Summer Camp EVER

Bekah Myers Director of Summer Central

Bekah grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana where she fell in love with camp and the outdoors. She has been a part of The Dunham School family for 10 years as a mother of two (a 7 year old son and a 5 year old daughter), an elementary school teacher and now as Director of Summer Central’s Summer and Extended Day programs.  During her two years as a second grade teacher, Bekah directed the readiness camp for first and second grade students.  Bekah is very passionate about the althetics and arts.  Her research interests include cooperative learning, early literacy, and healthy living.    Bekah is thrilled to be at Summer Central for the Best Summer Ever!

Michelle Miller Supervisor:

Michelle grew up in Baton Rouge.  She is a mother of 2 children ( a 13 year old daughter Kaya and an 8 year old son Greyson.)  She has a BS from LSU and a degree in family, child, and consumer sciences.  She is from Baton Rouge and loves playing games camping, and spending time with her family.  Michelle has been teaching Special Education for 9 years and this is her second summer with Summer Central. 

Allison Miller Supervisor:

Allison Miller was born and raised in Texas, but has been a transplant to Baton Rouge since 2004. She obtained her Master’s of Education at LSU and in 2012 became a part of the Dunham Faculty. This will be her second summer serving as a Program Director. The best part of her job at Summer Central is planning fun activities and seeing smiling faces all summer long!
